Abstract

This research aims to analyze the quality control of 90-liter waste plastic products at PT. XYZ Kota Batam using the Six Sigma method. The main issue investigated is the high percentage of defective products (rejects) reaching 5.2%, exceeding the company’s target of 2%. The model used is the Six Sigma approach with the DMAIC cycle (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control). The main theories applied are quality control theory and process capability. The research input consists of secondary data from April to November 2024, with the sample comprising defective product data categorized into five main types: dirty printing, holes, folds, waves, and heniku. The analysis methods include Pareto diagrams, fishbone diagrams, p-chart control maps, and calculations of DPMO and sigma levels. The research results show a process capability value of 0.66 and a sigma level of 1.77, indicating the urgent need for process improvements. The study concludes that human factors and machinery are the dominant causes of defects. Recommendations include operator training and a review of the quality control system. The results are crucial for strategic decision-making to enhance product quality and production efficiency.
