Abstract

The problem of sanitation in the residential environment, especially in the disposal of feces, is one of the various health problems that need to be prioritized. Environmental pollution, one of which is environmental management itself does not meet health requirements, such as latrine management, so that it can affect human health. A clean and healthy environment is an environment that is desired by humans and can be beneficial for improving healthy living. Based on data from the Environmental Sanitation of the Batam City Health Office in 2020, Batam City itself still has 6044 families who still defecate or do not have healthy latrines. Meanwhile, Sungai Beduk Sub-district reached 98.4% for access to proper sanitation, the remaining 1.6% still defecated indiscriminately or did not have a healthy latrine, one of which was in Pancur Tower I RW 010 Keluraham Duriangkang. There are 53 families in Sungai Beduk sub-district who open open defecation (BABS) into the river based on data from the UPT Health Report of the Sei Pancur Health Center in 2019. Economic status contributes to the low coverage and access to latrines, especially healthy latrines. This is what causes the number of households with low latrine ownership and utilization coverage. To overcome these problems, there are Community Service activities with several alternative activities that can be applied, including more intensive health promotion, increasing support from the government and other stakeholders in improving hygienic behavior and making Simple Septic Tank Pilots.
