Abstract

The potential for the aviation industry in Indonesia is very promising, supported by its geographical conditions as the largest archipelagic country in the world. This industry is not only the air transportation sector, but also includes aircraft manufacturing, MRO, and drone manufacturing. According to the Minister of Industry. MRO is an organization that provides aircraft maintenance. The MRO's main task is to ensure that aircraft are fit for operation after undergoing maintenance. In the MRO industry, PT ABC is one of the companies that plays an important role. One of its divisions, Aircraft Painting, has a vital role in determining the final quality of the aircraft. However, this division experienced difficulties in achieving the desired quality standards, especially in terms of defects in the full body painting process. Defects in the full-body painting process were analyzed using the FMEA method. The results show that human factors, materials, machines, and methods are the main causes of defects, with "Not Understanding Technique" as the biggest factor. Proposed improvements are carried out through intensive training for painters. After training, monitoring for 7 working days showed significantly reduced defects. Sagging defects decreased by 82.14%, while other defects were eliminated after training. It is hoped that this training can improve the painters' understanding and quality of work, as well as reduce the risk of defects in the full-body painting process in the future.
